Percepción ambiental y movilidad activa en espacios escolares
Keywords:
Car dependency, Active mobility, SchoolAbstract
The car dependence in Brazilian urban centers has negative impacts, such as traffic congestion and crashes, emphasizing the need to encourage the use of active modes of transport. Based on the reality experienced in the surroundings of the school, these themes were discussed in three educational institutions, aiming to investigate how students perceived the surroundings of the school, sensitizing them about active mobility in the city. Conversation circles, mental mapping of the surroundings of the school and culmination activities were carried out. Students actively participated in the proposed activities, reflecting on the importance of more sustainable cities. It is argued that working in the surroundings of the school facilitated learning about the theme of active mobility, making learning about environmental education more meaningful and perceiving the city as an educational space.
